Deputy Nursery Manager

Toddletown Day Nursery is seeking a super Deputy Nursery Manager to join our friendly, inclusive and diverse team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate and motivated early years leader to continue their career growth in a role that supports the Nursery Manager.

As Deputy Nursery Manager you will play a vital role in helping us inspire the future for our children, by offering them the very best care and education using our unique curriculum “Where Children Shine” you will also support your room-based colleagues, by observing, mentoring and delivering best practice and regulatory compliance.

You will also gain valuable experience in the commercial running of the nursery, by supporting the Nursery Manager in managing parent enquiries, tours and enrolments, budget management, staff rostering, and recruitment, staff performance, and wellbeing.

Your roles and responsibilities as Deputy Nursery Manager would include –

Performance

  • Supporting the Nursery Manager with the effective running of the nursery by being organised, and have the ability to plan and prioritise your work
  • Being positive, confident, and honest
  • Having great initiative and a “can do” attitude
  • Knowing and upholding our policies, procedures and established working practices
  • Holding a recognised level 3 qualification in childcare
  • Supporting, mentoring and coaching colleagues, through induction, supervision and appraisal
  • Overseeing the day to day running of the nursery in the absence of the Manager
  • Supporting with enquiries, tours and enrolments
  • Working in partnership with parents, managing queries, concerns and complaints and resolving them to a satisfactory standard
  • Supporting with budgeting, purchase and stock management

Outstanding Childcare

  • Using our unique “Where Children Shine” curriculum to observe, plan and assess children’s learning opportunities
  • Understanding and implementing safeguarding, health and safety and welfare requirement policies and practices
  • Role modelling best practice and mentoring colleagues.
  • Having a firm understanding of OFSTED requirements and the ability to lead (with support) during an inspection or regulatory visit

Working with Others

  • Be a dedicated team player, and valuing the experience and skills of your colleagues
  • Continually striving to work together to deliver the very best care and education for the children
  • Supporting colleagues with empathy and care
  • Acting as mentor to apprentices and other colleagues
  • Managing recruitment processes, interviews, and selection processes
