The children in Droitwich Adventurers have been exploring their favourite books. We aim to support a lifelong love of reading at the nursery, which underpins many of our daily activities and routines. The children have enjoyed sharing them with their peers and practitioners and explaining why it is special to them. The children have then developed this further by creating their own version of the story and acting out the story with puppets and props.

This activity forms part of our Strong and Confident Communicator which is a part of the unique Happy Days ‘Where Children Shine Curriculum’. This activity is developing and enabling the children to talk about events and principal characters in stories, retelling stories and to use talk imaginatively in their play.😄

We all enjoyed exploring “The Tiger That Came For Tea” and “The Gruffalo” which proved to be a lot of children’s favourite bedtime story.

Happy Days Nursery and Pre-School, Droitwich are celebrating a significant milestone as it commemorates its first year of operation. The occasion was marked with a cheerful event attended by ex elected mayor Cllr Kate Fellows, staff members and children.

A purpose built nursery & pre-school, perfectly located within the heart of Yew Tree Village, just south of Droitwich Spa. After opening in September 2023 the nursery has illuminated tranquillity with neutral and calming environments to enrich play and learning opportunities for children.

Amongst celebrating a successful first year of operation, Ashley, the manager of Droitwich was presented with a certificate and flowers to commemorate becoming a finalists in Nursery Management Today NMT Awards 2024. Well deserved recognition of the immense dedication and effort Ashley has put into Happy Days Nursery, Droitwich over the last year.

The nursery send special thanks to Cllr Kate Fellows for joining Happy Days Nursery and Pre-School, Droitwich on the day of celebration. The team would also like to pay thanks to The Wedding House for providing an incredible balloon arch that sat within the nursery.

The birthday celebration of Happy Days Nursery was not only a significant achievement for the nursery but also a proof of the strong sense of community that has developed among parents, early years practitioners, and Local Authority. As Happy Days Nursery enters its second year in Droitwich, the team looks forward to pursuing its mission of nurturing every child to become a lifelong learner and to enable their future success.

Happy Days Nursery, Droitwich, celebrate their Manager being shortlisted for the Nursery Manager NMT Award!

Happy Days Nursery, Droitwich, are extremely proud of their manager, Ashley Webb, who is a finalist for the Nursery Manger NMT Award, with the winner being announced at the Awards Ceremony on 30^th November.

As part of the nomination, Ashley had to demonstrate her leadership skills and the ability to support, develop and motivate staff, along with the ability to work with young children and their families in a sensitive and positive way and the ability to create a safe, caring and stimulating environment. The award submission also summarised how her role and day to day management is so outstanding.

Sam Richardson, Early Years Operations Manager, stated, “We are delighted that Ashley has been recognised for this award. Since joining Happy Days in 2023 to open our new nursery in Droitwich, she has developed an exceptional staff team, leading and guiding them to ensure the best quality care and education are provided to the children, every day. Her partnership with parents is excellent, having secured a daynurseries score of 10 within the first 10 months of the nursery opening. She truly is a magnificent manager and we are extremely proud of her.”

Along with demonstrating her management skills, Ashley also received some amazing testimonials from staff, parents and the children – well done Ashley!

Happy Days Nurseries & Pre-Schools and The Hollies, invite families to ‘Come Camping With Us’ for their Autumn Open Day!

Happy Days Nurseries and Pre-Schools and The Hollies, are opening their doors and inviting families from the local community to ‘Come Camping’ at their Autumn Open Day on Saturday 5 October.

Families will enjoy activities* such as Story Time and S’mores around the campfire, navigating the camp site using the map, making play-dough hedgehogs, hot chocolate mice and tying knots! Children can even make their own binoculars and use them to spot the wildlife!

Fiona Blackwell, Operations Director commented, “We wanted to make our final open day of the year an experience for everyone to enjoy. Our ‘Come Camping with Us’ event will allow families to enjoy some camping activities in the comfort of the nursery environment and go on an adventure, using their maps to navigate to different activities. We hope everyone enjoys the day.”

The Autumn Open Day is being held across all sites on Saturday 5 October between 10:00 – 13:00 and the whole community is invited to attend. There is no need to book, just turn up! There will be indoor and outdoor activities, so it won’t be affected by the weather!

Happy Days Nurseries & Pre-Schools raise Money for Children’s Hospice South West with their Travel Challenge!

Nine Happy Days Nurseries across the South West and Wales are taking part in a ‘Travel Challenge’ this International Day of Charity to raise money for Children’s Hospice South West.

Happy Days Nurseries located in Bradley Stoke, Lyde Green, Exeter, Cheswick, Charlton Heights, Droitwich, Swindon, Yate & The Hollies in Cardiff are virtually walking/cycling around all 27 happy Days Nurseries. Colleagues, parents and children will all be taking part to walk/cycle a total of 1,471.4 miles within one week, starting on Thursday 5 September to recognise International Day of Charity.

International Day of Charity aims to raise awareness and give a platform to charity organisations around the world and this year, Happy Days are putting a spotlight on their chosen charity, Children’s Hospice South West.

For more than 30 years Children’s Hospice South West has been caring for children and young people with life-threatening and life-limiting conditions by providing hospice care and professional family support services. The care offered at each of their three hospices is not just about medical and nursing support for sick children and young people but enriching the lives of them and their whole family.

Sam Richardson, Early Years Operations Manager for these nine nurseries stated, “CHSW are a charity close to our hearts and we have been supporting them for several years now. This year, my sites wanted to mark International Day of Charity with a special challenge that everyone could get involved in and the Travel Challenge was set! We are aiming to raise as much money as possible for this worthy cause, whilst having lots of fun along the way!”

As part of International charities day, we have set ourselves a weeklong travel challenge, alongside 8 other nurseries the challenge of walking to all the Happy days nurseries.

This is a total of 1471.40 miles which means Droitwich needs to contribute 163.49 miles during the week of 5th to 12th September. Between staff, parents, and children we need to aim for 23.36 miles per day. We are raising money for Children’s hospice Southwest. We have a pledge form in the reception area where parents and staff can sign up to say how many miles, they have travelled that day and a poster with QR code for any donations you would like to make

Happy Days Nursery Droitwich now have welcome bags for new parents!

Your child’s first day at nursery can be an emotional one and, along with our 6-8 weeks settling in process, we aim for it be as smooth as possible. Even though you and your child are ready and prepared we know there might still be a few tears.

We have created a little welcome bag to make parents first day a little easier. We hope you enjoy the treats and our special poem:

I know how hard it is to leave and

You’ve been with them for a long time now

Happy Days Nurseries & Pre-Schools, Droitwich, have a local swimmer that is returning home on Saturday from the Paris 2024 Olympics. Matt Richards won a silver in 200m freestyle and then gold in 4x200m freestyle relay. The children have made congratulation cards and delivered them to his family home ready for his return tomorrow.

The children are thrilled that an Olympian lives so close to the nursery and he is inspiring a new generation to aim high and reach their full potential.

Matt is returning to Droitwich at 10.30 am tomorrow morning, Saturday 10th August – lets celebrate our local hero on his amazing achievements.
