Please welcome our new Eco schools committee!

Happy Days Nurseries Bradley Stoke is happy to introduce their new Eco Schools committee.

From September to July, our nursery takes part in the Eco-Schools Early Years programme, a seven-step framework designed to help us introduce meaningful eco-learning activities and make our setting more environmentally friendly.

At the heart of the Eco-Schools programme is child led learning. Each week, our Eco-Schools Committee, made up of curious and enthusiastic young learners, explores inspiring environmental actions taken by children around the world. Together, they discuss how these actions make a difference and reflect on what we can do to help protect our planet.

By taking part in the programme, children deepen their understanding of key environmental issues and develop the skills and knowledge needed to care for the world around them. The experience empowers them to make positive choices, now and in the future, that support a healthier, more sustainable planet.

Charlton Heights Celebrates Community Spirit and National Recognition

It’s been a week of celebration for Happy Days Nursery & Pre-School, Charlton Heights, as the team proudly shared in the success of their neighbours, Allegra Care, while also being shortlisted for a prestigious national award. 🌟

The children from Happy Days Charlton Heights recently joined residents and staff from Olive Tree House and Rose Garden care homes for an incredible Upcycled Fashion Show, organised as part of The Carer’s national Coffee Morning Competition in support of Macmillan Cancer Support.

The event, which took two months of preparation, celebrated creativity, sustainability, and community connection, values that are at the heart of everything Happy Days stands for.

Our children designed and decorated their own t-shirts before proudly walking the catwalk alongside Home Manager Vlad, who dressed as a cardboard box to match their chosen song, “Big Fish, Little Fish.” Together, the event raised over £150 for Macmillan Cancer Support, showing how powerful community collaboration can be.

Manager Steph said: “Our children absolutely loved taking part in the fashion show. It was a brilliant opportunity to bring generations together, share creativity, and support such a meaningful cause.”

The Charlton Heights team is also celebrating being shortlisted as a finalist for Community Nursery of the Year at the 2025 Nursery Management Today (NMT) Awards — a reflection of the nursery’s deep commitment to supporting local families and building strong community connections.

Since opening in 2023, Charlton Heights has become a true hub for families, offering free weekly Stay & Play sessions, tailored parent support on everything from toilet training to school readiness, and assistance with EHCPs and SEN funding. The team regularly attends and hosts community events, supports local charities like St Peter’s Hospice, and leads environmental initiatives such as litter picking, planting for pollinators, and achieving the Eco Schools Green Flag Award with Distinction in 2025.

Manager Steph added: “We want Charlton Heights to be more than just a nursery, a place where families, schools, businesses, and charities come together to support children and each other. This nomination is a celebration of our entire community.”

From creative catwalks to national awards, it’s clear that community truly shines at Happy Days Charlton Heights.

Charlton Heights Children Visit Local Fire Station

Children from Charlton Heights enjoyed a fun and educational visit to the local Fire Station this week.

The trip offered a hands-on experience where the children had the opportunity to sit inside a real fire engine, spray water using the hose, explore fire-fighting tools such as torches, and even try on some of the equipment worn by firefighters.

In addition to the interactive activities, the children took part in fire-themed colouring and had the chance to ask lots of questions about the important role of the fire service in our community.

The visit was a fantastic way to learn about fire safety in a memorable and engaging way. A heartfelt thank you to the firefighters for their time, kindness, and the warm welcome they gave to our young learners.

Oct 10, 2025

As we prepare for the new academic year, Happy Days Nursery Saltford is proud to announce that our bespoke Early Years Curriculum, “Where Children Shine,” will be fully embedded across both our nursery and pre-school settings — with all educational programmes in place and being delivered by our experienced and passionate teams. This marks an exciting milestone in our continuous commitment to delivering high-quality early years education that prepares children not only for school, but for life.

A Curriculum Designed for Every Step of the Journey

Developed by Happy Days Nurseries & Pre-Schools, “Where Children Shine” is an ambitious, broad, and balanced curriculum that reflects our ethos of nurturing confident, curious, and resilient learners.

In England, the curriculum supports all seven educational programmes outlined in the Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). These include:
Communication and Language
Physical Development
Personal, Social and Emotional Development
Literacy
Mathematics
Understanding the World
Expressive Arts and Design

At Happy Days Saltford, this curriculum is now being delivered in full across both of our dedicated sites — supporting children at every stage of their early years journey.
Two Settings, One Consistent Vision

Happy Days Saltford offers high-quality childcare across two specialist buildings:
Our Day Nursery on Bath Road provides a nurturing and engaging environment for babies and toddlers, supporting the earliest stages of development.
Our Pre-School, located on the grounds of Saltford Primary School, prepares older children for their transition to school and offers wraparound care for children attending Saltford Primary.

Across both sites, “Where Children Shine” ensures a consistent and carefully tailored approach to learning, underpinned by four key developmental aspects:
✨ Strong & Confident Communicator
Focused on language, listening, and self-expression through storytelling, phonics, and meaningful interactions.
✨ Inquisitive & Ambitious Thinker
Embedding STEM concepts and environmental awareness through hands-on discovery and curiosity-led learning.
✨ Healthy, Independent Explorer
Promoting physical activity, oral health, nutrition, and sun safety to build lifelong healthy habits.
✨ Resilient & Motivated Individual

Supporting emotional wellbeing through mindfulness, yoga, and activities that foster self-confidence and a positive sense of self.
Preparing for a Positive Transition to School

Our curriculum plays a vital role in helping children gain the confidence, independence, and foundational skills they need for a successful start to school. Being located within the grounds of Saltford Primary School, our pre-school children benefit from an environment that naturally supports this transition — both in routine and familiarity.

As we enter September, we’re proud to offer families a fully embedded, inspiring curriculum that truly reflects the values of Happy Days: to Support, be Honest, Inspire, Nurture, and Empower every child.

📅 We welcome enquiries and visits. If you’d like to learn more or book a tour, please get in touch — we’d love to show you how your child can shine with us.
