Designed to deliver exceptional care and early years development for Bradley Stoke’s youngest children, the new Baby Unit is a calm, nurturing space tailored to meet the needs of babies aged 0–2 years. With a focus on high quality interactions, sensory play, and secure attachments, the unit is a valuable addition to the existing nursery’s early years provision.

Green Flag Success for Happy Days Nursery & Pre-School, Charlton Heights!

We are thrilled to share that Happy Days Nursery & Pre-School, Charlton Heights in Charlton Hayes has officially achieved the Eco-Schools Green Flag Award, with Distinction!

This prestigious recognition celebrates the incredible efforts of our children and nursery colleagues in making our nursery more environmentally friendly, sustainable, and eco-aware. Since 1994, the Eco-Schools programme has empowered young people across the globe to take positive action for the planet and we’re proud to be part of that movement.

The initiative at our nursery was led by Megan and Amarta, who worked closely with the children and team to bring eco-conscious learning and projects into everyday life.

“I’m so proud of everything the children have achieved,” said Megan. “From learning about recycling to planting and caring for our garden, their enthusiasm and understanding of sustainability has been inspiring. This award is a reflection of everyone’s hard work and passion for protecting our planet.”

We now eagerly await the arrival of our official Green Flag and celebratory plaque, which we will proudly display at the nursery.

A huge thank you to our incredible Eco-Committee, colleagues, and families for supporting this journey. Together, we’re helping to create a greener future for the next generation.

Childcare Apprenticeship Success Story: From Apprentice to Qualified Practitioner

Childcare apprenticeship success story: Brogan’s Brilliant Journey from Apprentice to Qualified Practitioner at Happy Days Nursery, Summercourt.

At Happy Days Nurseries, we are passionate about nurturing not only the children in our care but also the talented individuals who help them grow and thrive every day. One of our shining examples of dedication, ambition and professional growth is Brogan, a valued member of the team at Happy Days Nursery, Summercourt.

Brogan’s journey began in 2021 when she joined Happy Days as a Level 2 apprentice. From day one, it was clear that she had a natural flair for working with children and a genuine passion for early years education. But Brogan didn’t stop there. Eager to expand her knowledge and enhance her ability to support children’s development, she decided to take the next step in her career by progressing to the Level 3 Early Years Educator qualification – a true childcare apprenticeship success story in the making.

“I wanted to expand my knowledge and understanding,” Brogan explains. “I was really interested in learning more about the reasoning behind the ways we teach children and how those methods support their development. I wanted to go deeper, to really understand why we do what we do in early years settings.”

Throughout her training, Brogan demonstrated a strong commitment to her own learning, balancing her studies with her responsibilities in the nursery. It wasn’t always easy, but thanks to her determination – and a strong support system – she successfully completed her Level 3 qualification.

“Both Happy Days and the apprenticeship provider Realise were amazing,” she says. “Happy Days offered extra CPD training through Cornwall Council, which really helped with my extended learning and written assignments. Realise were also fantastic – my tutor was always there when I needed help and gave me the confidence to believe in my abilities. I never felt like I was on my own.”

Now fully qualified, Brogan has stepped confidently into her new role and is already thinking about where her professional development might take her next. She describes completing her Level 3 as “an amazing feeling” – not only because of the qualification itself but because of how much she’s grown personally and professionally.

“I feel so much more confident now,” she says. “And it’s made me even more passionate about what I do. I’m definitely interested in exploring further qualifications in the future while continuing to build my skills through CPD.”

For those who are thinking about a career in childcare – or who may be considering taking that next step from Level 2 to Level 3 – Brogan has some heartfelt advice.

“Looking back on my journey, I’ve achieved so much more than I ever expected. If anyone is unsure or feeling anxious about getting started in childcare, I would say go for it. The support you receive from the very beginning makes such a positive impact. I’ve been offered more opportunities than I ever thought possible when I first started, and I can honestly say this is one of the most rewarding journeys you can take.”

At Happy Days, we believe in celebrating success, and Brogan’s story is a testament to what can be achieved with the right support, determination and passion. Her experience is a fantastic example of a childcare apprenticeship success story, highlighting how training, encouragement and hard work can lead to meaningful career progression.

Brogan is an absolute asset to our Summercourt nursery, and we couldn’t be prouder of everything she has accomplished. Her dedication, positivity and drive continue to inspire her colleagues – and we know she’ll go on to do even greater things in her career.

Congratulations, Brogan – your journey is just getting started, and we’re so excited to see where it takes you next. We hope your childcare apprenticeship success story inspires others to take that first step into a truly rewarding profession.

Happy Days Bradley Stoke is delighted to announce the completion of its latest expansion project, which has introduced a brand new purpose-built staff cabin and a beautiful 15-place Explorers Room. This exciting development marks another step forward in our ongoing commitment to providing outstanding care and early years education.

The newly created staff cabin has quickly become a much-loved addition by the team at Bradley Stoke. Designed with wellbeing in mind, the space offers a calm and welcoming environment where staff can unwind, relax, and rejuvenate during their breaks. By making full use of the outdoor space surrounding the cabin, the team has already felt the positive impact this new facility is having on their day-to-day wellbeing and team morale.
