From Caterpillar to Butterfly – A Magical Journey at Happy Days Penair
Over the past month, the children at Happy Days Penair have been on an incredible learning adventure, discovering the wonders of life cycles. This learning is part of our commitment to the global Eco-Schools programme, which empowers children to develop a deeper understanding of environmental issues through hands-on experiences.
Inspired by The Very Hungry Caterpillar, the children were fascinated by how a caterpillar transforms into a butterfly. To bring this to life, the nursery raised their own butterflies. Each day, during Eco Meetings, the children closely observed each stage of the transformation—watching the caterpillars grow, form chrysalises, and eventually emerge as butterflies.
This morning brought a magical moment: the butterflies had emerged! The children fed them fresh fruit before gently releasing them into the woodland area, sending them off on their next adventure.
We’ve captured the children’s reflections and excitement in a short video—filled with awe, joy, and butterfly facts.
