On Saturday 6th Happy Days Nurseries hosted a SEND Conference, the theme of the conference was to build upon staff knowledge and understanding of how to support high-quality inclusive early years practice for all children and families who attend a Happy Days Nursery. Giving all children the best start in life while valuing and celebrating the uniqueness of every child.

Throughout the Conference we explored a range of key themes including inclusive pedagogy, partnership working with families/carers, early identification and support, and creating environments where all children can shine. Colleagues engaged in meaningful discussions, shared examples of effective practice and reflected on how they can further strengthen inclusive provision within their own Nurseries.

Workshops included:

  • ‘Inclusive Communication and Interaction Strategies’
  • ‘Inclusive Practice “Asking the Awkward Question“’
  • ‘Big Feelings, Little People Understanding how children are trying to communicate through their behaviour and how we can respond with confidence, empathy and effective strategies’

Our keynote speakers, Jay Sparkle, Angela Horn and Meggie Fisher shared their knowledge and expertise through informative and thought-provoking presentations that facilitated reflection and discussion on how inclusive practice ensures that every child and their family/carers are valued and that their individual needs are effectively met.

We’d also like to give a big thank you to Hope who kindly donated a large range of resources that were handed out in welcome bags to attendees.

The Conference reinforced Happy Days commitment to ensuring that every child feels a sense of belonging, is supported to reach their full potential and receives the highest quality inclusive early years education and care nurturing them to become a learner for life enabling their future success
