This Saturday Happy Days Nurseries are hosting a SEND Conference to bring colleagues together from across the group, it will be a day of learning, understanding and shared ambition for the year ahead.
The conference aims is to strengthen inclusive practice by providing opportunities for Happy Days SENCOs to further develop their skills and knowledge to remove barriers to learning and participation for all children. Key note speakers will provide workshops that promote and explore best practices approaches to creating nurturing, inclusive nursery environments where every child feels a sense of belonging and is supported to reach their full potential .
The event will also offer valuable opportunities for professional networking, collaboration and the sharing of ideas, supporting SENCOs to reflect on current practice and take back new learning to share with colleagues within their own Nurseries to further enhance inclusive practice across all Happy Days Nurseries.
The day has a busy schedule with special guests such as Meggie Fisher (Head of Quality – Dingley’s Promise), Jackie Cambridge (Head of Quality – Happy Days), Jay Sparkle (Support Manager – Happy Days) and Angela Horn (Lead Inclusion and SEND Advisor) attending to hold workshops. Workshops will include ‘Inclusive Communication and Interaction Strategies’ led by Meggie Fisher, ‘Inclusive Practice “Asking the Awkward Question“’ led by Jay Sparkle and ‘Big Feelings, Little People Understanding how children are trying to communicate through their behaviour and how we can respond with confidence, empathy and effective strategies’ led by Angela Horn.
Jay Sparkle expressed – ‘I am incredibly excited to be delivering my ‘Asking the Awkward Questions’ workshop at the Happy Days SEND Conference. Creating truly inclusive environments for children with SEND begins with confident, informed conversations, even when those conversations feel difficult. This workshop will explore how we engage families, navigate sensitive discussions with empathy, and work together to ensure every child receives the support they need to shine. The Happy Days SEND Conference represents an important investment in professional development, equipping every SENCo across the organisation with the knowledge, confidence, and practical strategies needed to make a meaningful difference to children and families across every Happy Days Nursery. Together, we are strengthening practice, building confidence, and ensuring inclusion remains at the heart of everything we do.’
Happy Days employees have been challenged to bring along an image of the SEND information Board that they have created for parents and carers to have the opportunity to win a prize for the most informative and well-presented board. The competition will be judged by Meggie Fisher who has donated the newly published book by Dingley’s Promise ‘Early Years Inclusive Practice for children with SEND’.
Hope have also very kindly donated a large range of resources to be handed out in welcome bags to attendees.
Happy Days are looking forward to the Annual SEND Conference serving as a powerful reminder of what can be achieved when passionate people come together with a shared purpose and an exciting foundation for the year to come.
