A Week of Food, Fun & Family at Happy Days Nurseries
Happy Days Nurseries & Pre-Schools are gearing up for a very special event – Activities Week: Food from Around the World, running from Monday 6th – Friday 10th October 2025.
This exciting celebration will bring together children, families and nursery teams to enjoy a whole host of activities inspired by food, culture, and wellbeing. Think cultural food festivals, sensory spice play, creative crafts, kitchen discos, outdoor mindfulness walks and so much more.
But Activities Week is about more than just fun – it’s also an opportunity for families to get a real feel for life at Happy Days. Parents can:
Meet the dedicated practitioners who care for and inspire children every day
Explore the nursery environment and discover how play supports learning
Chat through everything from settling-in sessions to funded childcare hours
To make the week even more special, families who visit during Activities Week will be able to enrol at their chosen Happy Days nursery without paying the enrolment fee – a great saving for those considering childcare.

This special week is designed to:

Each day offers a themed activity for families to enjoy together, from food tasting and cooking to creative play, gardening fun, and picnics. It’s a wonderful chance to join in, make memories, and see what life at Happy Days is all about.
What’s on each day
Marvelous Mealtimes Monday – 6 Oct, 10–11am Enjoy Handa’s Surprise fruit tasting and explore water play with flavoured tea bags, cups, and saucers.
Tapas Tuesday – 7 Oct, 10–11am Get hands-on making spring rolls and samosas with our chef and create world flags.
Wellness Wednesday – 8 Oct, 10–11am Move, stretch, and create together with Let’s Move! and Let’s Cook! activities.
Transportation Thursday – 9 Oct, 10–11am Dig into a tough tray filled with soil, farm animals, tractors, and vegetables — complete with spades for exploring!
Fabulous Food Fest Friday – 10 Oct, 3–4pm Round off the week with a special afternoon tea picnic.

Happy Days Nurseries & Pre-Schools are excited to invite families to join us for our upcoming Activities Week: Food from Around the World, taking place Monday 6th – Friday 10th October 2025.
This special week is completely free to attend and packed with exciting, hands-on experiences designed to inspire children’s curiosity, celebrate diversity and explore the wonderful world of food!
Each day will follow a themed programme across our nurseries, with activities ranging from fruit tasting and yoga, to sensory spice play and cultural food festivals. Families will have the chance to enjoy unique experiences together, while also discovering more about our nurseries.
Here’s a taste of what’s in store:
🍎 Marvellous Mealtimes Monday – Fruit and vegetable tasting, kitchen discos, fruit kebabs, and citrus-inspired water play. 🥘 Tapas Tuesday – A celebration of flavours from around the world, with tapas tasting, Spanish bingo, flag making, and spice-inspired sensory play. 🧘 Wellness Wednesday – A focus on mindfulness and wellbeing, including yoga, oral health workshops, bubble play, music and movement, and outdoor mindfulness walks. 🚜 Transportation Thursday – Farm-inspired play with tuff trays, planting seeds and crops, role-play farm shops, and imaginative transport activities. 🎉 Fabulous Food Fest Friday – A big finale with food tasting festivals, cultural picnics, and opportunities to try exciting dishes from around the globe.

A Bittersweet Goodbye as Thornbury Children Graduate and Get Ready for School
Last week, Happy Days Nursery Thornbury held its annual Preschool Graduation – a heartfelt celebration marking the end of an incredible journey and the beginning of an exciting new chapter for our school leavers.
While saying goodbye is always bittersweet, the ceremony was filled with pride, joy and reflection on how far each child has come. Surrounded by families, the children were presented with certificates to mark the completion of our Journey to a Positive Transition to School programme – a carefully designed roadmap that supports children in becoming school-ready, confident, and curious learners.
Jamilla, Apprentice at Thornbury, shared: “Graduation was really beautiful. It was lovely to have all of our preschoolers and parents together to celebrate them taking a really big step to school.”
Our Journey to a Positive Transition to School is a 16-week programme that prepares children emotionally, socially and developmentally for starting school. Using a tailored roadmap, each child works through key milestones, supported by their Key Person, daily routines, and our bespoke curriculum. Each step is carefully observed and celebrated, with weekly activity cards sent home to engage parents in the process.
Throughout the journey, parents contribute to their child’s development with “Special Memories and Achievements at Home” sheets, strengthening the partnership between nursery and home life. The programme culminates in the Graduation Ceremony – not only a celebration of achievements, but a confident send-off for each child as they begin school life independent, resilient and ready to learn.

We’re thrilled to invite families in and around Thornbury to join us for Happy Days Fest, our biggest and most exciting summer Open Day yet, happening on Saturday 21st June 2025, from 10:00am to 1:00pm at Happy Days Nursery & Pre-School in Thornbury.
This vibrant, festival-themed event is tailor-made for children under 5 and promises a morning full of music, laughter, and discovery. It’s the perfect chance for families to connect with our caring team and see what makes Happy Days Thornbury such a wonderful place to grow.
🎉 What to Expect at Happy Days Fest in Thornbury:
Adventures 2:
Get creative at our face painting station and dive into our lucky dip!
Explore rainbow playdough fun and join in on festival crafts.
Adventures 1:
Craft your own flower headbands, join in a lively Boogie Mites session, and enjoy some summer water play.
Explorers 2:
Dance with colourful scarves and make your own shakers or musical instruments for a musical adventure.
Explorers 1:
Design and create bracelets and necklaces to take home.

Our meeting room will be transformed into a karaoke disco, complete with lights and props—perfect for little (and grown-up) pop stars!
Take aim in the garden with “Splat the Deputy”—a sure hit with children and parents alike.
An ice cream van will be on hand to serve up summer treats.
A local farmer will bring a tractor for children to explore and learn about the world of farming.
We’re also hoping to fire up the BBQ for a tasty addition to the day.
Don’t miss our classic “How Many Sweets in the Jar?” game in the foyer—a fun challenge for the whole family.

Creative Corners Get hands-on with shaker-making, friendship bracelets, and other sensory craft activities that encourage creativity and fine motor skills. Celebrate World Music Day In honour of World Music Day, nurseries will be embracing sounds from around the world—exploring rhythm, instruments and cultural beats in a playful and age-appropriate way. Thornbury will host their Open Day as a combined Recruitment Event on 21 June.
Playbox, Penair, and Truro City will instead be attending the Truro Children’s Event on 21 June, which takes place the same day.
